Blah Blah Blah foul mood P.E.S.T.
------------
Title: Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Pre-Thoughts: Not gonna bother. Just Lucas trying to make more money and using horrible, Playstation One graphics for the computer animation.
Pre-Score:
Feed Me, Seymour!
Title: Tropic Thunder.
Pre-Thoughts: I think this will be more of the big movie than the previous. In short, I think it'll be great, and I can't wait to see Robert Downey Jr. as a black guy.
Pre-Score:
I Am McLovin!
Title: Mirrors.
Pre-Thoughts: Yet another Asian horror remake. However, it was helmed by Alexandre Aja, who I personally thing did a great job with the remake of The Hills Have Eyes. But I dunno... I'll have to ponder whether or not I wanna see it, seeing that it'll probably just be all the same predictable Asian horror stuff.
Pre-Score:
Feed Me, Seymour!
Title: Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
Pre-Thoughts: I've had bad experiences with Woody Allen's work (specifically Match Point, which it seems a lot of critics are saying this is a lot like in how "great" it is... so, yeah, not even the brief make-out session between Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz can get me to see this in theater. That, and, well... it's not coming here (as far as I'm aware).
Pre-Score:
Feed Me, Seymour!
Title: Henry Poole Is Here.
Pre-Thoughts: I feel kinda bad for this movie, because it's gotten almost no advertisement, it's coming out against all these hugely advertised movies, and it actually looks really good. I don't think it's coming out here, unfortunately, but I'd love to check it out at some point.
Pre-Score:
I Am McLovin!
Title: Fly Me To The Moon.
Pre-Thoughts: Remember how good Space Chimps was? Oh, you didn't see it? Yeah, neither did anybody else.
Pre-Score:
The Zed Word
I've only recently heard of 'Henry Poole is Here' and from the trailer it looks entertaining but a bit too "the world is alright, really" message type films.
ReplyDeleteI do like me some Luke Wilson though.
Seriously can't wait for Tropic Thunder though. Shame I live in the UK and have to.
:(
Just out of curiosity, why do you use such a confusing and strange rating system? If you have to look to the side to find out what each rating means, it's not a very good system. Why don't you just use the standard 1-10 or 1-5 or whatnot that people can understand without needing to read a tutorial?
ReplyDeletemastadon: First, I'm not the only person who uses this kind of rating system (so it's not an original type of rating system on my part). Second, it's not really confusing, especially for my frequent readers. Not to mention each one practically spells it out for you. So on the contrary, I do believe it's a rather good system (in an unbiased kind of way), especially in comparison to the incredibly over-used and incredibly boring 1-10/1-5 system. Not to mention you're the first/only person to complain on my or any other blog/review website that uses this or similar styles for rating that I've seen.
ReplyDeleteIf you're too lazy to move your eyes a fraction to the left (and/or are confused by the fact that "She's gone from Suck to Blow" means awful, "Feed Me, Seymour" means it wasn't quite good enough, or "WHOA" means it was really good), then you've got more problems than just understanding an inventive rating system.
Also, thank you for commenting :P .
Ehh well I wasn't really referring to those two, more like.... I am McLovin. What part of that makes it fall where it does? That and The Zed Word. That's the two that beyond being assigned to that spot, I can't figure out why they're there.
ReplyDeleteAnd I wasn't so much complaining as asking, since I've read for awhile and that was a long line of different ratings to read through.
I think they make sense... How can you not see "I am McLovin!" as "I am lovin this movie"? As for The Zed Word... you know... Zed Word... Zombies... the movie is barely alive for me...
ReplyDeleteThough I might put up a post in the future to ask or poll others on any possible confusion. Though if you're a long-time reader, you shouldn't really need to keep lookin back to the legend... that's my opinion, anyway.
