This time, we're talking meta-horror films Scream and Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. (Warning: Both discussions are heavy on spoilers... and while we assume most of you have seen Scream by this point, Leslie Vernon is a more unknown flick. ReplyDeleteYour SCREAM story reminds me of my experience watching the Stephen King tv-movie ROSE RED: Livin' in Hell-Lay at the time, watching this on the television. It's aggressively mediocre. Our hero creeps closer and closer and closer to the door with the creepy sounds behind it... reaches out to open the door and... L.A. is hit with an earthquake.
Not a big one, but enough for effect. It was like the network scheduled it.
Also, Steve is right that Wes Craven is underrated. Best guess: Even when Craven ventures outside of the horror genre, he's still doing horror (i.e., RED EYE, MUSIC OF THE HEART).
