MonthWatch - November 2012.
[I'm going to keep a monthly tally of the movies I've both watched for the first time and as re-watches. I think it'll be interesting to see what all I've watched at the end of the year and how many. That being said, let's do it. Here's the next month.]

THEATRICAL (3)
Wreck-It Ralph - I loved it! And I had a great emotional connection with it.
Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 - It was fun, and strangely the best of the Twilight films (unironically).
Skyfall - Not big into Bond, but this was a lot of fun.
RE-WATCH (6)
National Treasure - I hadn't seen it in ages, but this one actually isn't as bad as its reputation. It's fun!
The Cabin in the Woods - Still one of my favorites of the year.
The Cinema Snob Movie (Commentary #1) - The more "making of" listen, which was interesting.
The Cinema Snob Movie (Commentary #2) - The "cast" listen, which is just funny.
The Amazing Spider-Man - I still really dig it, and I prefer Garfield over Maguire, though the initial high of the theatrical love might have dipped a bit.
To Boldly Flee - Showed a friend... it might be 3.5 hours, but it's a fantastic and fun 3.5 hours.
FIRST TIME (27)
Ruby Sparks - Not exactly what I was expecting. It was good, but a little depressing.
Safety Not Guaranteed - I liked it, but I wanted to like it more since I love Aubrey Plaza.
Out of Africa - For 50/50. Very pretty, but a bit dull for my tastes.
The Cinema Snob Movie - Any self-respecting film reviewer (especially if you also like exploitation or giallos) should watch this. It's so dang fun.
The Raven - I barely remember anything that happened in this movie. Pretty forgettable. The least of the 3 Cusack movies I watched this month.
Tekken: Blood Vengeance - For V.G. Movies. An overly WTF third act, but up until then it was pretty good.
John Carter - It's not a bad movie in and of itself. It's just really boring.
High Fidelity - For 50/50. Took me a while to stop hating John Cusack in this movie, but once I did, I really liked this.
Brave - Not perfect, but it's really pretty and enjoyable.
The Watch - Predictable and goes for the lowest common denominator. It's not terrible, but I'm sad this was "Moss's" big American debut.
Shuffle - Ever wanted to see Memento and The Butterfly Effect merge and be acted out by half the cast of TV's Bones? Then this is for you! Not too bad, though a really schmaltzy ending.
Beverly Hills Cop - Quite fun!
Beverly Hills Cop 2 - Still quite fun!
In the Name of the King 2: Two Worlds - For V.G. Movies. This movie, like the first, was so bizarre and goofy that I couldn't help but enjoy myself.
Savages - I didn't care for it much even before the much-hated ending. It's OK, but I (for some reason) tend to have a lot of trouble getting into crime films centering around drugs.
Star Trek: First Contact - For 50/50. A bit disorienting at the start, but I eventually got into it and enjoyed it.
I Love You, Man - I loved it!
ThanksKilling - Eh. It has its moments, and it's goofy as hell, but I probably don't need to see it again.
A Good Old Fashioned Orgy - I thought it was pretty good... except for the fact there's almost zero drama or conflict (and what there was was very weak) and then the movie just kinda ends.
Painted Skin 2: Resurrection - A very pretty film with some interesting ideas, though a bit overly long and drawn out.
Perfect Blue - Even trippier than Black Swan (which is a pseudo-remake of this). They both have their strengths, but I think I prefer Black Swan a little more. Still, it's a very good movie.
Indie Game: The Movie - For V.G. Movies. Not quite what I was expecting--much more serious and/or depressing--but I still liked it.
Beverly Hills Cop 3 - Talk about changing genres... where'd the humor go? It was alright, but definitely not as good as the first two.
Grosse Pointe Blank - For 50/50. Loved this movie.
Excision - Now this was a screwed up little movie (which I did review!). Check it out if you're into psycho-dramas. It's kinda like if We Need To Talk About Kevin took it to the next level... and was a dark comedy at the same time.
A Fistful of Dollars - For MILF. Not big on westerns, but I liked it. I like Yojimbo more, though.
ParaNorman - The surprise of the month. For a kid's film, this was surprisingly scary and adult while maintaining some really good comedy. I loved it.
Theatrical - 23

THEATRICAL (3)
Seven Psychopaths - I absolutely loved it!
Paranormal Activity 4 - This was crap. Good lead characters, though.
Silent Hill: Revelation - Even bigger crap. Such a disappointing follow-up.
RE-WATCH (10)
Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black - Had a Riddick marathon with friends. I heart this movie.
Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury - Ditto. And this one's story is good, but I don't care for the animation.
Chronicles of Riddick - Ditto. And this one grows on me. He has some great lines/moments in this, despite the story being a bit convoluted.
Resident Evil: Afterlife - What can I say? I kinda dig it.
Gymkata - Showed some friends. They hated me for it.
The Raid: Redemption - Showed the same friends right after. They loved it even more due to the comparison factor.
Little Shop of Horrors (Director's Cut) - Favorite Film of All Time... and the original ending is nuts fully completed!
Saw VI - The best of the sequels, in my opinion.
Aliens - The best of the sequels, in my (and/or everyone's) opinion.
Trick R Treat - Halloween tradition!
FIRST TIME (27)
Shark Night - Yeah, it was crap.
The Invisible Man (1933) - For 50/50. It... was eh. Great effects, though.
The Hole - The Joe Dante flick. It was alright, though kind of a rip-off of The Gate.
Ghidorah: The Three-Headed Monster - For MILF. Campy fun.
Hellraiser - I actually really liked it, much more than I thought I would.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - Same for this one, strangely. I really liked the characters.
Bait - This was just ridiculous garbage. It had potential to be like Snakes on a Plane, but failed miserably.
Friday the 13th - Part 3 - For 50/50. It was... OK.
Hellbound: Hellraiser II - I liked this one, too. Not as much as the first, but it was still good.
Rock of Ages - For MILF. Bordering on my least favorite film of the year thus far. Tom Cruise's performance is helping it stay barely afloat.
Rockula - For a future Lair episode. I thought it was bizarre, campy fun, but not enough to warrant another watch.
Creepshow - Don't shoot me, but I only thought it was alright. I didn't dislike it, but it didn't hook me in, really.
Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes) - For 50/50. I really liked it.
Murder Party - Holy CRAP this movie was insane. It's like kinda dull yet really strange first hour... and then off-the-walls third act.
Quick - A campy Korean version of Speed mixed with something like Torque or Premium Rush. It was alright.
Funny Games - For MILF. The original version. I liked it better than the remake, anyway.
Moonrise Kingdom - You know what? I kinda liked it. Though I really disliked the main boy.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master - Just because. It was alright.
Watership Down - For 50/50. Totally bizarre and trippy version of The Odyseey... with bunnies.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge - It doesn't fit in with the rest of the films, but... I liked it.
BloodRayne: The Third Reich - For V.G. Movie article. Terrible, as expected.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - Again... I kinda liked it.
Seeking a Friend For the End of the World - Much more melancholy than I expected, but it was enjoyable.
Magic Mike - I'm not a big Soderbergh fan, I guess.
The Devil's Carnival - From almost all the people that brought you Repo! The Genetic Opera. It was decent.
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers - For 50/50. It could have been better, but it was alright.
Hansel & Gretel - A Korean horror/thriller/fantasy/drama. Starts off slow, then gets really screwed up halfway in. A very 'dark fantasy', twisted take on fairy tales with some H&G ideas sprinkled in. I recommend it.

THEATRICAL (4)
Resident Evil: Retribution - Most entertaining since the first... but that's not hard to do.
The Master - Great acting... very lacking story. At least I had a great theatrical experience to go with it!
Dredd - Very entertaining... Karl Urban rocked it.
Looper - One of my favorite movies of the year thus far.
RE-WATCH (13)
Tangled - I was in the mood for it! It gets better with every viewing.
Clue - Saw it was on Instant Watch and had to watch. Love this movie.
Thor - I still like it much better than Captain America. Kind of unofficially started the "Chris Hemsworth Marathon."
Star Trek - Another I was in the mood for... and forgetting it had Chris Hemsworth.
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li - For V.G. Movie Article. Still a pile of crap.
Stay Tuned - Loved this movie as a kid. It's even better now!
Kick-Ass - For DemPod. A lot of fun.
The Cabin in the Woods - Currently my favorite movie of the year.
The Cabin in the Woods (Commentary) - Great commentary track to go with a great flick.
Captain America: The First Avenger - I liked it better than in theater... but it's still my least favorite of the Pre-Avengers flicks.
The Avengers - Still lots of fun. And this wrapped the unofficial "Chris Hemsworth Marathon."
To Boldly Flee (Noah Antwiler Commentary) - Not technically finished, but it's still over 100 minutes of commentary and over half the movie, so I counted it for September rather than October.
Tommy Boy - Guilty pleasure? Or just pleasure? I'll leave that up to you...
FIRST TIME (20)
Santa Sangre - For MILF. Eff this movie.
Rampart - Good acting... forgettable movie.
Mission: Impossible - Apparently I hadn't seen this whole thing before. Fun stuff.
All's Faire in Love - Cheesy and light and could have been better, but it was fun and entertaining for what it was.
Castle in the Sky - An amazing Miyazaki I hadn't yet seen. I need to see it again soon, though.
The Devil's Backbone - For 50/50. I liked it, but I like Pan's Labyrinth more.
Safe - Good story, but the movie played it too (wait for it...) safe.
My Favorite Year - For 50/50. Didn't care for this one much. Peter O'Toole was excellent, though.
To Boldly Flee - TGWTG Movie. Brilliance.
Catwoman - For DemPod. Literally one of the worst mainstream films I've ever seen.
Ponyo - For MILF. Another Miyazaki I hadn't seen. I really liked it!
King of Fighters - For V.G. Movie Article. Yeah, it's crap.
Take Me Home - It took me a minute to even remember what this was. Great concept, enjoyed at the time. Apparently forgettable, though.
Double Indemnity - For 50/50. One of my favorite of the List.
Snow White and the Huntsman - Part of that unofficial "Chris Hemsworth Marathon." It kinda falls apart at the third act. It looks gorgeous, though.
Tekken - For V.G. Movie Article. Entertaining fights and visuals, but terrible adaptation and mostly crap everything else.
The Hidden Face - Nice Spanish thriller worth checking out... but DO NOT watch the trailer before doing so. It spoils EVERYTHING.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers - I like the 70s version better, but this one was good, too.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers - I like the 70s version better, but this one was good, too.
Operation Condor - A Jackie Chan flick that is tons of fun! Incredibly silly and over-the-top, but super entertaining.
Headhunters - I was confused for a while, and it took me a while to get into it, but I eventually did... and the ending is a nice payoff. I'd recommend it.
Project A - Jackie Chan. Pirates. What can go wrong? Well... the plot sucks, for one, so it's a bit dull. Fights are great, though.

The Amazing Spider-Man - I don't care what the haters say... I really liked it... better than Raimi's starter.
The Dark Knight Rises - Definitely flawed, but it was fun. Anne Hathaway stole the show.
RE-WATCH (12)
In Bruges - For DemPod. Love it more and more every time I see it.
The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters - For V.G. Movie article. Great documentary, despite inaccuracies.
The Village of the Damned (1995) - Wanted a rewatch before taking on the original for DemPod. Actually liked this version a little beter.
La Horde - The French know how to do horror... and this zombie flick is no different in its awesome brutality.
Attack the Block - For DemPod. This is a film that so hard to dislike.
Batman Begins - Had to get ready, you know.
The Dark Knight - Ditto.
Southland Tales - For DemPod. Such a fascinatingly awesome trainwreck.
Resident Evil: Extinction - For V.G. Movie article. This makes no sense as a movie, in or out of canon.
Hitman - For V.G. Movie article. The movie is just like a bald Timothy Olyphant... it just shouldn't happen.
The Gate - Watched for the first time since I was a kid. Really fun and creepy, and the stop motion animation was actually even better than I remember.
Dog Day Afternoon - For an upcoming DemPod. One of Pacino's finest performances.
FIRST TIME (21)
Ten Inch Hero - I can't believe I'm saying this... but Jensen Ackles is great in this.
Dragons Forever - Um... not Jackie Chan's best.
Road House - For 50/50. A slow start, but gets pretty awesome!
Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark - Terrible in every way... shame on you, del Toro, for producing this.
Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge - For MILF. My first Bollywood... and I thought it was a lot of fun!
Blue Velvet - For DemPod. Well... it's David Lynch.
Die Hard With A Vengeance - Probably my favorite... though a tie is possible.
Point Break - For 50/50. Too much random surfing! Otherwise, it was a lot of fun.
Village of the Damned (1960) - For DemPod. It's creepy enough.
American Reunion - I kinda liked it, actually...
The Golden Child - I really liked it, actually...
BloodRayne 2: Deliverance - For V.G. Movie article. I didn't like it, actually... (a lot... a lot)
Trainspotting - For 50/50. Respectable flick, though a bit uneven to me.
Metropolis (Restored) - For MILF. Beautiful, but--in my opinion--flawed.
Delicatessen - For DemPod. Fantastic!
Rushmore - For 50/50. Eh... I didn't care.
Get the Gringo - Say what you will about Mel Gibson, but he still makes pretty dang good movies.
The Thirteenth Floor - It's like mixing eXistenZ with Inception. Starts slow, but gets pretty cool.
Weirdsville - Similar to my thoughts on the last film from this director I saw, Empire Records--took me a while to get into it, but eventually got hooked on the characters and weirdness of everything... but I didn't like it as much as the other.
Silent House - For MILF. Not that great.
Once Upon a Time in the West - For 50/50. If I liked slow pacing and westerns, I'd love this quite a bit. But I don't, so I only merely really liked it.

THEATRICAL (1)
Prometheus - Cool, but a little too slow and with a third act that didn't really make up for the slow burn.
RE-WATCH (10)
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World - For LAMBcast. And because it's freakin' awesome.
Doom - For V.G. Movie article. It's... not good. Except for the 5-minute first person segment.
Minority Report - For DemPod. One of the best modern Sci-Fi movies out there.
Alien - In the mood after Prometheus. One of the best classic Sci-Fi movies out there.
Rashomon - For DemPod. Gotta love Kurosawa.
Silent Hill - For V.G. Movie article. One of the, if not the, best video game adaptations.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - It was on TV while I was on vacation... and it's awesome.
Collateral - I was in the mood for a good hitman movie.
She's Out Of My League - I think it's an underrated comedy.
The Artist - Still just as great, if not a little better.
FIRST TIME (20)
Dead Ringers - For DemPod. Jeremy Irons is the only reason to see it.
We Need To Talk About Kevin - For MILF. Didn't expect to love it as much as I did.
Much Ado About Nothing - For 50/50. Also didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.
RoboCop - It... was OK.
Gone - My memory of this movie is already gone. (buh dum, psh)
Safe House - For MILF. It is what it is... not much more. But I was OK with that.
An American Werewolf in London - For LAMBcast (that ended up being too sick for). Fun... and fantastic transformation sequence.
The Road - Such a happy film, isn't it? Still... very well made.
Richard III - For 50/50. The only one I didn't really care for of the month.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance - For MILF. Had some dull moments, but also some great moments.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - Ditto.
Die Hard 2: Die Harder - Not as good as the original, but it has its moments, as well.
Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight - This was a lot of fun.
Demolition Man - But this one... was freakin' awesome.
Titus - For 50/50. Very weird. Are we sure this one is Shakespeare? Still entertaining, though.
The FP - For MILF. Also very weird, and the joke wears out its welcome pretty fast, but it has a couple moments here and there.
Jeff, Who Lives At Home - Fantastic!
Scotland, PA - For 50/50. Pretty inspired re-telling of Macbeth.
21 Jump Street - I actually had fun with this and didn't expect to.
Empire Records - Started off "What the heck am I watching?" But got invested in the characters and just rolled with it. I ended up really enjoying it.

Dark Shadows - Not so awesome, but entertaining enough.
RE-WATCH (23)
Pulp Fiction - Hadn't seen it in a while and just felt like checking it out again.
Shark Attack 3 - Made some friends watch it. They both hate and love me more because of it.
Troll 2 - Ditto.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life - For V.G. Movie article. Bad.
Role Models - Still hilarious.
Of Mice And Men (x6) - Showed it in class, of course. Great adaptation.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse - For V.G. Movie article. Worse than I remember, but not god-awful.
The Nines - Still awesome and mind-bending.
Chronicle - I liked it as much this time as I did in the theater.
Snatch. - See: Pulp Fiction.
Little Shop of Horrors - Rachel Thuro got me in the mood for this one. And yes, I sang along.
Dodgeball - Had to prep for a Faculty vs. Student dodgeball game the next day.
Bulletproof Monk - I dunno... just felt like it. It's not a great movie... but whatever.
Kill Bill Vol. 1 - Wanted to watch both back-to-back, so I did. This one is fun, but I don't super duper love it.
Kill Bill Vol. 2 - I actually liked this one a lot more than I used to (it used to be reversed, where I preferred Vol 1).
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children - For V.G. Movie article. Confusing plot, but some of the best animation and action sequences you will ever see.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - Rare that I re-watch a movie in close proximity to its last watch, but it was there and I was in the mood.
The Skin I Live In - For DemPod. The first hour makes a lot more sense the second time through, and I still really, really liked it.
FIRST TIME (16)
The Re-Animator - For 50/50. Wacky fun.
The Caller - It was alright. Great concept... only decent execution.
Haywire - Eh. I was bored. Awkward action, horrendous acting, bland lead character, nonsensical story, and... I just didn't care.
Shame - Great acting... but at this point almost all I remember is Fassbender's wang and possible incest.
Lone Wolf McQuade - For 50/50. It had some moments of greatness.
Underworld: Awakening - For MILF. Really bad.
Merantau - Fun Indonesian martial arts flick. The story isn't great, but the action is.
The Monster Squad - For 50/50. I needed to see this as a kid, but there was still a lot to like.
The Grey - For 50/50. Conflicted emotions. Not what I was expecting.
Alone in the Dark - For V.G. Movie article. I've seen worse Uwe Boll... but this was still bad.
Escape From New York - For 50/50. Snake is awesome.
The Woman in Black - Decent film. Good acting. Though I couldn't stop watching Dan Radcliffe going "It's Harry Potter... It's Harry Potter..."
The Secret World of Arrietty - For MILF. Not perfect, but a good addition to Studio Ghibli's pantheon.
Jason Lives: Friday the 13th - Part VI - For MILF. Really wacky.
Man on a Ledge - Not perfect, but entertaining. I don't think it deserves all the flak it gets.
Goon - Really boring first half. Good second half. It was alright overall.

Shaun of the Dead - One of my all-time faves.
Hot Fuzz - Felt like following up with this the next night.
The Gamers: Dorkness Rising - Brilliant unknown, low-budget comedy.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - For V.G. Movie Article. It's alright.
Big Trouble in Little China - Thank you, Nolahn! Man, this movie is awesome.
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon - For DemPod. Amazingly fun.
Scream - For DemPod. Still good.
Ghostbusters - On Netflix Instant... couldn't pass it up.
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - For V.G. Movie Article. Could've been better.
Scream 2 - Felt like following up Scream a week or so later. Not as good, but decent.
Resident Evil - For V.G. Movie Article. Kind of underrated in the V.G. Movie 'genre'.
Taken - I have skills, too, ya know...
Cloverfield - For DemPod. Still good. Love TJ Miller.
The Host - For DemPod. Doesn't necessarily hold up, but still good.
House of the Dead - For V.G. Movie Article. Gotta love Uwe Boll, right?
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - Awesome stuff!
FIRST TIME (21)
Arahan - Fantastic S. Korean action comedy. Funny and a lot of fun with some outstanding action sequences.
Spanish Judges - Great psychological crime thriller. Quite unpredictable with a great Matthew Lillard performance.
City Lights - For 50/50 I love Chaplin more and more.
We Bought A Zoo - For MILF. Not too shabby.
Carnage - I guess I'm a Polanski fan.
War Horse - Sunsets: The Movie! Decent final hour... otherwise, not that great.
His Girl Friday - For 50/50. Crazy dialogue! Pretty good movie.
The Darkest Hour - For MILF. SO much wasted potential...
The Skin I Live In - Slow to start, then OMG WTF. Gonna see this again. Soon.
The Chaser - Good S. Korean thriller.
Four Rooms - What a wacky little flick.
No Mercy - Another good S. Korean thriller with a unique story... but could have done a little more.
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance - For 50/50. Gotta love its leads, even if you don't like westerns.
The Divide - For MILF. Again, so much wasted potential.
House of the Devil - Wanted to see Ti West's claim to fame before Innkeepers. Boring 70 minutes, but INSANE third act.
Almost Love - Decent S. Korean RomCom with a third act that gets really dark and unexpected. Could have been better on the whole, though.
The Innkeepers - For MILF. Great chemistry from the leads, but I wanted a bit more.
Le Samourai - Great lead character in an interesting flick.
War of the Arrows - Acclaimed S. Korean war epic... that could have been much better (good third act, though).
Severance - Interesting British horror/comedy. Could have been a wee bit better, but still fun.
11-11-11 - Oh my God... so... boring... Darren Lynn Bousman might not be the BEST director in the world, but he's certainly better than this.

Daybreakers - Doesn't quite hold up as much the second time.
Beetlejuice - Daaay oh. Me say daayyy oh. Daylight come and me want go home.
