Update: The Demented Podcast.
"But Nick," you say, "won't that mess with the schedule for the Battle Royale that should be coming out?" I'm glad you asked. You see, due to an insane amount of scheduling conflicts from all the contestants, we won't be able to get the next Battle Royale recorded until early June.
"What does that mean for the next regular episode?" The current plan is actually to go ahead and record Episode 41 immediately prior to the Battle Royale, and then do the BR. The scheduling will be a bit wonky, but I'll somehow make it work.
"So..." you begin, slightly befuddled. "When can I expect new episodes again?" Like I said, I'll hopefully get you this last episode (#39) sometime early next week. However, after that, you probably won't get a new episode until early-to-mid June, most likely. So I guess consider this an unplanned hiatus-type thing. Again, I apologize. It's completely my fault. Just keep an eye out for the next episode soon, and thank you for sticking with us!
P.S. Is this a bad time to ask for a nomination for the LAMMY awards? Right... thought so. (Though it sure would be swell!)

Update: The Demented Podcast... Hiatus?
Hey all you DemPod fans out there. Now that I've brought you 20 straight shows, including numerous great guests, dynamic discussions, impressive impressions, and some crazy climbs of The Tower (including 2 Battle Royales), I am here to say that the Demented Podcast will be taking a brief hiatus. There are currently some plans in motion, and the podcast is going to be changing slightly (hopefully for the better). I've been trying to catch my groove since the start while simultaneously keeping things fresh, and it's proven to be somewhat difficult. That being said, I think there are some interesting things in the future of the show, but I don't have enough time in the next week to get it ready and have a show for you. With that, I also have the return of my job in a couple weeks, since the school year is about to start up, so I'm not sure how crazy the beginning of the year will have me. All of this is why I'll be taking a brief break, so that I can get things smoothed out and ready for the epic return. For now, I wouldn't expect an episode until at least late August or early September at the earliest. So until then, please keep reading and commenting on my posts, as well as viewing (and commenting) on The Vlog--which shall be wrapping up in roughly a month itself. Also, keep an eye out for an announcement on 60/60 Part 2 (next year's edition... yes, I'll be doing it again). That announcement should be coming in the very near future, as well.
Thanks!

R2D2... The One With A Blog Update.
Hey guys and gals. I just wanted to let y'all know there's been a few changes/additions to the blog. Obviously most of you have noticed, in the last couple months or however long it's been, the "Last 5 Films I Saw" thing on the top left corner. It started as 3, but I eventually bumped it to 5. Just for clarification, these aren't necessarily the EXACT last 5 I saw, but the last 5 NEW movies I saw. So if I just watch a movie I've already seen before, I won't put it up on that scrolling list. Granted, I'm watching new stuff almost all the time, so the bulk of it will be pretty spot on with what I'm watching.Next, you might notice a new page added to the menu under the header called "The Study." This page has a handful of scrolling box lists on it divulging every movie I've ever seen. The first box is every movie in alphabetical order. The lists after that, clearly, are separated by decade. Within those, I have them in chronological order through the decade. And if there is more than one movie for that year (not necessarily the case for the earlier years, but definitely for the later ones), I put the movies of each year in alphabetical order. I want to thank, again, Rachel for letting me use her own list as a starting point. It really helped save time (only took me about 4-5 days to do all the lists).
Finally, a couple other new changes in the menu part. Since I haven't done a book review in forever, I took the book review section from the menu bar and placed all the links in a drop-down menu under "The Closet" section. Also, I brought back "The Vlog" section. Keep an eye on that section, because I will update it every now and then, and you might get an idea of what's to come in future episodes. Or if you just want an easy way to go back and look at older episodes, that works, too.
Anyway, I think that's about it! Thank you to everyone who nominated and/or voted for me for this year's Lammy's. Lost out to the same people again this year, but it's still great being nominated. Thanks for your continued support and any comments you have on anything is always welcome and appreciated!

R2D2... The One With Another Apology And Schedule Change.
OK guys, last time, I swear.School is killing me this year. Second year is supposed to be easier, but the new way they have us teaching the kids is making even 30-year+ teachers feel overwhelmed and exhausted. I hardly even have time to think about the blog (or the Vlog) throughout the week, much less write anything for it. I'll try to do the best I can, but I can't promise much.
That being said, I'm gonna have to remove the majority of my "weekly schedule" and just say... when I have time to post a review or an article, I'll do it. I will promise, however, that you will receive a new Vlog every Sunday. But I can't keep holding to even my 3-posts-a-week promise that I made (sad, huh?).
For some random updates...
- I finished Arrested Development, so expect a Series Review hopefully sometime in the near future.
- I guested on Univarn's Film Enigma Game Show Podcast, so that'll be up soon (I'll post it up when it is).
Yeah... that's about it. Sorry again... expect something in the near future.

Blog Update.
From now on, all reviews and articles, etc., will be posted on the main page. But I have 4 new sections, as well. There's the "Home Theater" section, which holds the reviews for all the movies in an alphabetical list, but also shows (via asterisk) if the review is postive/negative/whatever. The "TV Room" section holds the reviews for all the TV shows. The "Bookshelf" section holds book reviews. And "the closet" holds random articles and whatnot.
In other words, the other sections are just record keeping and easy access per category. I may eventually add an "About Me" or whatever, but not tonight. I've been working on these other 4 all afternoon/night and I'm tired :P .
There are a couple link issues here and there which I'll be resolving tomorrow (mostly in the book section, but a few movies. But for the most part, it's all good).
Anywho... thoughts on the new setup?

R2D2... The One With A Site Update.

I just wanted to update with a quick note about the blog. It's gonna be getting a minor makeover shortly due to blogger's advent of the "pages" feature. So over the next week or so, if you notice some errors or issues with the blog, it's because it's gonna be under construction for a little while. Just letting y'all know.

R2D2... The One About What's Coming.
- 4 more days worth of Film Production Diary, as we'll be (or at least should be) wrapping up filming on my (students') movie this week.
- Movies to review that I've recently seen: Inglorious Basterds, The Wrestler, Milk, Michael Clayton, Synecdoche New York*, and (500) Days of Summer.
*Well... I couldn't exactly get through it (I got about halfway through before giving up)... so I'm not sure how great of a review this could be. Maybe about as good as the movie itself. (bah dum bum). But I didn't delete it from my DVR, so I might still give it another shot before reviewing it.
- Movies on my DVR to watch: The Royal Tenenbaums, Persepolis, Doubt, The Soloist, Revolutionary Road, and A Clockwork Orange.
- Movie recently (impulsively) bought on DVD that I need to watch: Ichi (retelling of Zatoichi, but with a female).
- Movies to see in theater this month (that I know for sure): Youth in Revolt, Daybreakers, The Book of Eli, and Legion.
- TV Reviews: Season 4 of Dexter and Seasons 2 and 3 of Battlestar Galactica.

R2D2... The One With Upcoming Information.
I know it's been quiet around here recently, but I've been watching a lot... so you'll be getting some reviews and whatnot soon. On top of reviews, I plan to give you more editions of "Why Haven't They Made This Yet?"But anyway, here are some reviews you should be expecting (not sure in what forms, yet--long or short--but you'll see my thoughts on them somehow):
Paprika
Nothing
Kamikaze Girls
RocknRolla
*Heathers
The Onion Movie
Midnight Movie
Dragonball Z: Season 5 (I've actually been sitting on this basically completed review for about a week now... I need to just post it already).
And some that I haven't watched as of this posting, but have within my possession and will be soon getting around to:
Knowing
Cello
Beowulf (the recent CGI version)
Fargo (I saw it years ago, but I'm gonna give it another viewing and see what I think now)
Of course, there are some other movies I've seen that I've been planning on reviewing for a (very) long time now, including Son of Rambow, Driving Lessons, and Bio-Zombie.
Not to mention you will be getting a review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince next week. Otherwise, I think that's about everything.
*I might include this film in a possible Christian Slater blog-a-thon I've been thinking about... so that could be on the list, as well.

Welcome To The New!
Welcome to the new and improved Random Ramblings of a Demented Doorknob! This took quite a bit of work, but I think it was worth it. Everything is much neater now, more customized, and much more pleasant to look at.
Let me give you a quick tour/explanation of the new digs:
Home: This section will be for all the articles, site updates, P.E.S.T., DVDs or Death, etc. Basically anything that isn’t a straight-up movie review, book review, or TV review will be posted here. Also, if you’re following this on your RSS Feed (or something similar), you won’t need to follow the other pages to see if I update. Any time I update with a movie review or whatnot, I’ll post an update on the home page section to announce the new review/post. That way, you can keep your RSS Feed nice and tidy while still knowing exactly when I update everything.
Movies: This is the section that will have all my movie reviews (theater reviews, DVD Reviews, 2 In 1, Short Reviews, etc.). Though there will be no movie-related articles in this section… like I said, those will be going on the home page. This is strictly for reviews.
TV Shows: This is the section that will have all my TV show reviews.
Books: Of course, this is the section that will have all my book reviews.
It’s all pretty self-explanatory. There are a few exceptions to these rules, though. For instance, I have some “Thoughts On” that are just basic discussions on film. Though I had at least one “Thoughts On” that acted as both discussion and review. The latter went into the “Movies” section, while the former went into the “Home” section. Also, there are some “Page-to-Film” comparisons or some “spectacular bam wow” posts that span two sections for obvious reasons. But that’s nothing y’all really have to worry about.
You’ll also notice in all three ‘review’ sections, the right side-bar includes a drop-down menu that has all respective reviews in alphabetical order, making for a neat, tidy way to find what you’re looking for.
You also might see some funky formatting with some reviews/posts, but most of those were already there with the old layout, though some are new. I’m just too lazy to go and bother with all 300+ of them, if you know what I mean. They aren’t that bad.
Also, I accidentally deleted one post… ironically, it was the first ever post to give me a ton of views: the infamous “10 years, 10 screenplays” post (that was actually 11 years, 11 screenplays, because I can’t count). But oh well.
So anyway, I think that’s everything! I hope y’all enjoy it. I thought about giving each section (movies/TV/books) its own rating system, but I don’t rate TV/books all that much… and I didn’t want to make it too confusing/convoluted. Though I did edit a few of the meanings for each of my normal ratings. So… yeah. There y’all go!
Thoughts?
