Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.12 (The Season Finale).

Here's episode S2.12.

This is it, folks... The Season 2 Finale! Probably the greatest bits of footage I've ever put together... and now you get to see it--on my birthday!

Last time on The Vlog: If you've gotten this far, you should know what's going on by now. If not, the fastest way to get a recap is to watch the promo I posted last week. You can click here to see it. It's the second video in that post.

So, I want to give a special thanks to all of you who guested this season! Some of the season's best moments came from y'all, especially shown through some wicked improv skills. Season 3 won't be coming for at least a few months at minimum, maybe later than that, but I've already got some ideas brewing (I even have the new opening credits already made). This particular episode was fun to put together--y'all gave me some great footage (I'm hardly in this episode), and it was great editing it together. Now, this episode was kept pretty secret from everyone involved. When I handed out scripts, I gave only what was necessary for the actor/actress to know. If there was a dialogue (like a phone conversation), I gave both sides for context, but often removed names or clues that gave away who it could be--unless the name was in the dialogue said by them. So most of these guest actors had no idea who they were talking to or, really, about what. Jason probably had the biggest clues, but even he wasn't handed everything. So I'm pretty excited to see what everyone thinks. Overall, I'm really happy with how this turned out. I have no idea how I'm going to top it next season, especially since the climax of this finale came from a spur-of-the-moment idea... but I'll think of something, I'm sure. Anyway, I'll not keep y'all bored with my ramblings. I'll let y'all at it. Enjoy!

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.11 + S2.12 Promo.

Here's episode S2.11.

This episode pretty much is just setting up for the big finale next week.

Last time on The Vlog: DPR, who is now just Nick because he sent the other Nick into the past to become DPR (confused yet?), had originally hired a super-hacker named Dylan to find out information about Jason Soto and his plans. Dylan has been giving him information little by little. Meanwhile, DPR had to deal with magical issues that Jason was somehow inflicting upon them, and he got a little help from a witch known only as RT (who ended up sending them the time travel device to send Nick back in time in the first place). He still doesn't know Jason's ultimate plan--Plan 9--but he's got to find out soon... and do something about it.

Having already finished the Season 2 Finale by this point, this was the last episode I needed to film. I've officially wrapped on the season! Hooray! And man, did I try to make it a long one. The original cut was over 7 minutes long, and not all of that was plot. I had to cut two segments (a One Sentence Review and a bit where I'm just regular Vlogging for once) for time sake. This episode will also feature the last Completely Random Movie Comparison. There are two versions of it--maybe some day you'll get to see the alternate take. And I'm going to say now... this episode includes my favorite line I've ever written for this show thus far, and it's made even better by the person who performed it. That's all I'll say.

Anywho... enjoy!

Also! In honor of next weekend's Season 2 Finale, I've put together a promo trailer for the episode. I quite like it, myself. Anyway, the promo includes a lot of footage from previous episodes (including today's), but it also includes some never-before-seen footage from the upcoming finale. So without further ado, here it is:

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.10.

Note: If you missed the post, I just put up The Demented Podcast #8 a few hours ago, right below this post. Check it out!

---------------------------------

Here's episode S2.10.

This episode finally gives us an explanation for the Season 2 LOST opening.

Last time on The Vlog: The season opened with the opening of an eye. "Nick" looked around, confused, and without memory. He had no idea how he got there. He had something around his neck, his glasses on his chest, and "JS" written on his hand. Everything else was a blur. He ends up becoming Dramatic Post Reader. Fast forward and we have DPR contacting a witch who goes by RT to help them by giving them a time travel device. She didn't want to do it, but she did. And now Nick and DPR are awaiting her package.

This particular episode was a bitch to make... and you'll understand why when you see it. It's totally necessary to the plot, of course, but actually making it took a while. I even almost ran out of battery (I got down to about 2 minutes or so). And then editing it took a few hours, something that's never happened before. So the episode is a couple minutes longer than the limit, but I hope you can forgive me on that. I didn't want to cut anything, as the plot stuff is vital and the random stuff is (mostly) thematic. So I hope y'all like it. Oh, and randomly, I tried saving the video in a different format than usual to see if that helps boost the quality. We'll see if that works.

Anywho... enjoy!

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.9.

Here's episode S2.9.

This particular episode shows the aftermath of the Season 1 finale, but doesn't really reference anything else from the first season.

Last time on The Vlog: Throughout the season, DPR has been working to stop a bunch of crazy (sometimes magical) things plaguing the apartment. He's even gotten a bit of help here and there from a mysterious figure known only as RT. In the previous episode, we saw what went down behind the scenes in the Season 1 finale and ending where Nick stabs DPR, leaving him for dead. However, Bill--owing DPR a favor--comes in to help.

I suppose to make up for the fact that my last few have been longer than usual, this one is shorter than usual. However, we also finally get to see our next guest character, the mysterious "RT" who has been helping DPR throughout the season. Besides that wonderful performance, it's not too big of an episode on my end. It's mostly setting us up for the finale, which is coming in 3 weeks. That's right, folks. There are only 3 episodes left of the season! And I promise you, it will be a finale you won't soon forget. I already have some footage, and it's flippin' amazing. Everything is being kept top secret, even from those participating (their scripts were edited to include only what they needed to say, sometimes even removing the identities of those they're supposed to be talking to. And if anything was revealed through their own dialogue, they've been sworn to secrecy). It'll be a star-studded cast including not one, not two, not even three or four... but FIVE guest characters. Plus myself... and a few other surprises. So keep watching!

Anywho... enjoy!

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.8.

Here's episode S2.8.

This particular episode references the Season 1 finale. If you need a refresher on how things went down, I'd recommend re-watching it (I know, it's a long one...) but if you don't feel like doing that, here's some info that might help.

Previously, in Season 1 of The Vlog: Nick wakes up in his dark bathroom and discovers he's being held captive by somebody named JS, as shown to him through some audio on his laptop. Meanwhile, DPR is reading something from Nick's own blog. Nick ends up escaping the bathroom with a knife and tries to say something nice about another blogger. Unfortunately, he "can't do it" and rushes off to his room, where he freaks out when he sees the penguin hanging from his ceiling fan. Thinking someone else must be behind this, Nick leaves and heads for his dining room, freaking out. As he does this, the laundry closet opens to reveal DPR, and Nick realizes he must be behind this. Nick stabs DPR, apparently killing him, but finds that DPR was just another pawn of JS.

Last time on The Vlog: DPR found out information on JS and his "plans," but he's been able to thwart them, either by things like magic counter spells or--in one instance--just counseling Bill (who feels he 'owes' him now). But DPR is attacked by the penguin after hearing some information about Plans 6, 7, and 8.

This was a complicated one to film. I had to check a lot of continuity bits throughout, making sure that even my toothpaste was in the right position. If the Season 1 finale is SAW, I suppose that makes this that one part of SAW 3. I splice in footage from that finale in with this episode, adding some new parts from DPR's perspective (which is why I think it might be more fun if the finale is fresh in your mind). It was a lot of fun putting together, despite the difficulty in getting it just right. It's slightly longer than usual, but not by too much.

Anywho... enjoy!

1.16.2011

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.7.

Here's episode S2.7.

This particular episode references basically the entirety of Season 1. It also refers to the week-long break in between episodes 7 and 8. This is what you need to know...

Previously, in Season 1 of The Vlog: Nick has faced many obstacles: the loss of his voice in a silent movie skit, being stuck in a never-ending time loop, having to face a lava-covered floor while speaking in a Japanese-style dubbing, dealing with Bill becoming depressed over breaking up with Sookie, and taking a week-long break off from The Vlog. And when he returned, he started being attacked by a stuffed penguin that led up to a big showdown...

Last time on The Vlog: Throughout the season, DPR has been taking care of strange occurrences, even getting a little help here and there. Forced into an unpaid break, however, DPR contacts a super-hacker to look into someone named JS--a set of initials that had been written on his hand when he woke up in the apartment at the beginning of the season.

For the first time on The Vlog, I'm hardly in it! This episode is actually largely consisting of not one, but TWO guest characters. The episode is slightly longer than usual, but it goes by really fast. Both guests gave me multiple takes of everything, so I got to have a lot of fun mixing and matching in editing, which was excellent (so even they don't know exactly how it's gonna go). Not to mention they only got their halves of the script, so they have no idea what the other is gonna do. And I might say, it turned out fantastic. Coincidentally, if you place the DPR segments of this season in the timeline of the first season, this one falls directly in the spot where I took a week break, so it makes a strange kind of sense that I'm not in this episode much, and when I am, it's just as DPR (it's almost like "Nick" is taking yet another break).

Special thanks to my guests and their wonderful improv skills, even adding bits of their own here and there.

Anywho... I'll stop talking now, so... enjoy!

1.09.2011

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.6.

Here's episode S2.6.

This episode actually does not reference anything from Season 1 except for the fact that DPR is not in any of the latter episodes prior to the finale.

Last time on The Vlog: DPR is on an unpaid, extended vacation after Nick blames him for all the crazy stuff happening. That's pretty much all you need to know.

This is probably the only episode this season that doesn't blatantly reference Season 1. But don't take that to mean there's no plot continuance. Actually, this episode introduces us to my next guest character! It also introduces a new character of my own. It's strange--last week I thought I was gonna have too much footage and would have to scale back, but I ended up being short. This week I didn't think I was gonna have enough and I ended up almost at limit. Strange how that happens. Anyway, this is the episode that really kick-starts the plot... or at least turns on the engine. Starting next week, things will slowly start being revealed up through the finale.

Anywho, enjoy!

1.02.2011

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.5.

Here's episode S2.5.

This particular episode references Episodes 6 and 7 of Season 1.

Last time on The Vlog: DPR is on a bit of a hiatus from The Vlog after being put on mandatory, unpaid vacation, being blamed for all the bad stuff that'd been going on lately. So now he doesn't have all that much to do...

If you'll notice, I didn't put up a 'previously on' for the last season episodes, mostly because I want the intro to be a surprise. But if you really wanna know, you can check here. Also there, you'll find an updated list for the rest of the episodes of this season with a few hints and what's to come.

I actually thought this episode was going to be overly long, so I didn't script a whole bunch. Instead, it turned out to be a bit short, so I had to go back in and add a couple things. It's still about 40 seconds shy of the new maximum time limit, but overall it's the same length as most of the older vids (this one just includes credits time). And the end joke is one I've been waiting to do for at least a couple months now...

Anywho, enjoy!

12.26.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.4.

Here's episode S2.4.

This particular episode references Episode 5 of Season 1. This is what you need to know...

Previously, in Episode S1.5 of The Vlog: The floor of Nick's apartment got covered in lava, and Nick somehow gained the ability to levitate over it.

Last time on The Vlog: DPR has been continually fixing strange things that have been going on at the apartment every week, from being driven silent to being stuck in a time loop. Also, someone appears to be trying to help out, giving him advice on how to fix these anomalies (particularly the loss of voice issue, as DPR received a letter--originally addressed to Nick--explaining what to do). Also, in present day, Nick's couch was gone.

Nothing particularly interesting behind the scenes except that I thought I had recorded a clip, but the camera had other ideas at the time... so I had to re-record it later once I realized it was missing (this happens to me more often than you'd think). I also had to attempt to upload the damn thing 3 times, which was annoying. I have no idea why it isn't as wide as it usually is within the frame of the player. Finally, I don't like how the levitation bit turned out this time around, as it didn't appear as seamless as the first time around... but oh well.

And, oh yeah, you get your first "glimpse" at one of many new guest characters this season.

Anywho, enjoy!

12.19.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.3.

Here's episode S2.3.

This particular episode references Episode 4 of Season 1. This is what you need to know...

Previously, in Episode S1.4 of The Vlog: Nick got stuck in a time loop, unable to escape. We were introduced to the fact that Nick has the sword of Godric Gryffindor.

Last time on The Vlog: Nick was upset about Winston's disappearance. Something seemed to cast a kind of spell on the apartment, causing both Nick and DPR to fall into silence. However, DPR was able to counter the spell by having Nick embarrass himself.

From now on, the video lengths will be bumped up to a maximum of 5 minutes, 40 seconds due to the 40-second opening credits that I don't count for the overall run-time. So there is still roughly 5 minutes of new footage and 40 seconds of opening credits.

This particular episode was interesting. I ended up hurting my foot (not bad, though) during the skit; I made myself momentarily sick to my stomach during a particular stunt I try to pull; and I just could not get the closer of one of my segments right. And despite the new time limit, there is a slightly longer length to this episode only because I've added some bloopers at the end of the video. Anywho, enjoy the video!

12.12.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.2.

The second episode of the season is here! Again, I recommend you've seen the first season first if you haven't yet (as well as the episode before this, of course).

This particular episode references Episode 3 of Season 1 quite a bit, where Nick speaks of True Blood and So You Think You Can Dance? in a "silent film" skit. As for this season...

Last time on The Vlog: After a bit of time travel, Nick ends up with a duplicate of himself that then joins The Vlog as Dramatic Post Reader (DPR). A few new segments were introduced. Winston the Hamster had apparently been stolen/kidnapped, as well... could it be the work of one Jason Soto?!

Also... to coincide with this turning into a web-series, I've added opening credits! These were a lot of fun to put together, so I hope you like them.

This particular episode was really tricky to put together. I needed some tough angles, and because I don't have a tripod, I had to get a little creative. I also had to get naked. (But don't worry... you don't see it.) Anywho... here's the episode! Enjoy!

12.05.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog S2.1.

Here it is, dear readers. Season 2 of the Vlog is officially kicking off. And to start us off with the brand new season is an episode a little longer than usual. As this is the Season 2 opener, I would strongly suggest you go back and check out the first season if you haven't already (though I can't imagine any of you that haven't). There are some characters and plot lines that you'll need to know for this to make any sense.

Here's a brief recap of everything you need to know, though (at least for this episode): Jason Soto, upset about the video Nick made episode 2 that mocked his dancing, plotted to destroy him and his Vlog. Together with his stuffed dog Cokie, he rounded up a stuffed penguin to attack and eventually place Nick in a Saw-esque game. Meanwhile, he also placed Dramatic Post Reader--who was also a part of the Jason embarrassment--in charge of making sure everything went off without a hitch. Part of this game was to force Nick to say good things about another blog. Unfortunately, Nick caught on to the plan, stabbed Dramatic Post Reader, and threw a shoe at the stuffed penguin, thwarting Jason's plan. However, it seems Jason might just have something else up his sleeve.

(If you haven't picked up on it, I'm treating The Vlog as if it were a TV Show now... or at least a web series. So yeah, think of it like that. A completely weird and random Show/Web Series.)

I don't mean to toot my own horn here, but I'm pretty happy with this episode. I think it turned out pretty clever (and in some cases, unintentionally clever). It's a very "meta" episode, so if you don't like meta things, this might turn you off a bit. Otherwise, it's all good fun. Also, I challenge y'all to see if you can name all the references (to movies and/or TV) made throughout the episode.

Anywho, let me know what y'all think and if it's a good start to the season. And if there's something you don't like, of course let me know so I don't ever do it again. Enjoy!

10.18.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog #10.

Alright... it's a day late, but it's finally here. And I hope y'all enjoy it! It's a very special episode... more a mini-film than a usual Vlog. But it's kind of a mixture of things.

This episode is the showdown and revelation between me and the penguin (which, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, you need to check out the previous 2 episodes). It's also, in part, a Halloween special due to its SAW homage. Next, it sets up something I have planned for the end of the year. So, finally, I'm considering this the "Season One" finale episode. I need to put my focus on the aforementioned "something I have planned." Let's just say it'll be one heck of a Season Two opener. So consider this the last Vlog until December.

Because it is all of this, not to mention because it's just my 10th episode, it's extra long (roughly 15 minutes). I hope y'all like it. I spent a lot of planning and time in this episode. Lemme know what y'all think!

10.10.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog #9.

Here's the new episode. And yes, the email was actually sent in by somebody. A different somebody than the closing salutation declares, but a somebody indeed. I hope y'all enjoy. Next week is the big 10th episode... where you'll see some special stuff... including the big showdown! But as for right now, here is episode 9. Enjoy!

10.03.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog #8.

I think I really needed that week off with the Vlog. After what I feel to have been a decrease in quality over the last couple episodes, I'm back with episode 8. And I really like this one... so I hope y'all do, too. It's one of my more original episodes. There are no Dramatic Post Readings... no Bill, either. And I do something I haven't done since, I believe, the first episode: review a movie!

I asked on Facebook for some suggestions in making the Vlog better. I took those into consideration, so I hope this meets your standards. Let me know what you think!

9.12.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog #6.

This is a pretty short episode, despite me practically working on it all day. The visual trick to the skit isn't that great due to lighting, but I still think it's pretty funny regardless.

Also, I got requests for more Winston and a bit of variation on my Bill/Sookie bits, so that's what you got. I also included a couple random bits from last week's that I cut to pad it a little.

This episode might split some people due to subject matter, but oh well. Today was a busy day and this is the best I got. So I hope y'all enjoy, and lemme know what y'all think! If any of y'all have any suggestions or recommendations for future episode, leave those in the comments as well.

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog #5.

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog
"Even Funnier After 4 Margaritas!" - Rachel Thuro

------------------------

This has to be my favorite Vlog to date. The skit for this particular episode just came together so smoothly. There's not much to this episode (randomness-wise). And this episode actually breaks my "5 minutes or less" rule. It's about 30 seconds longer. But I don't care, because everything just works. I did cut a couple random things, of course, but I kept in the essentials. Pretty soon I'll be able to make a "Special Episode" where it's just made up of bits I cut out. Though because nobody responded to my call for questions last week, I didn't do the "Ask" segment. Oh well.

Anywho, I hope y'all enjoy it!

Note:
During part of the skit, I know it looks like I'm standing on the wall trim, but I'm not. Even if I wanted to, it's not even wide enough for my pinky toe.

8.29.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog #4.

Sorry for the late-in-the-day post of the Vlog. I had a crazy bit of inspiration block. Anyway, here's episode 4! The Vlog is now one month old. Hooray!

Also, I made a video segment introducing this, but it pushed things too long... so I'm just gonna write it out. Like I said yesterday, I'm wanting to start a new segment on the Vlog where I answer silly questions. Think along the lines of Ask That Guy or Smosh's Ask Charlie. Even Ask A Ninja (sorta) if you remember that. If you'd like to send in bizarre/strange questions, or just regular questions, send me an email at nicholasjobe@gmail.com or leave a message in the comments below. If I get at least one, I can start the segment next week. Thanks!

Anywho, here's this week's Vlog. Hope you enjoy it.

8.15.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog #2.

Well, it's here! Episode 2 of the Vlog. As some of you know, I promised this week's episode to focus more on Jason Soto. Explanation is in the video. Anyway, this 5-minute thing can be killer sometimes. I had to cut out quite a bit this week.

There are three segments in this episode. The first is Jason-centric, and I had to cut out maybe 30 seconds of it.

The second segment is a bit of a skit--an idea that I've had for a few weeks now that I thought I'd incorporate. Unfortunately, this got the biggest cut. There's about 3-4 minutes cut out of this segment, and it's probably noticeable. And if you follow my Facebook page for this site, the *expletive deleted* comment last week dealt with this particular segment. It's a lot more difficult than it appears. The one angle alone is a mix of about 3 different shots... though that wasn't really the hard part.

The third segment is Jason-centric again, and it's probably one I'll continue to incorporate into later episodes (I don't know about all of them being Jason-centric, but I mean the idea itself). But I cut about MAYBE 30 seconds from this one. There's a noticeable cut near the end.

Anyway, hope y'all enjoy it. Leave me some comments down below! Here y'all go:

8.09.2010

Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog.

So I've been planning this for a while. This is a video blog (AKA Vlog) about just the randomness in my life. I'll discuss regular things about me or possibly give super short reviews of movies and TV shows I've seen recently. I want to keep each video 5 minutes or less for time sake, so it's a pretty quick watch.

Like the title, it is random ramblings, so things cut around and back and forth. Some "segments" are returned to, some are just one-shot things. This is mostly an introductory video, though. I promise that future editions will be more specific per segment (like mentioning specific articles from a blog instead of just the blogs themselves). Like I said, this one is mostly an overview kinda thing.

So yeah, tell me if you like it. What do you think? Is this a good idea? Are you even going to bother watching these? Leave your comments below... I always appreciate the feedback. And other suggestions on what you'd like to see more or less of (or something else entirely) are great, too.

Note: I actually cut a LOT out of this video. I had other random side-moments, longer explanations to things, and even a couple other movie reviews. I probably cut 2-3 minutes worth of stuff (minimum) off this video. So... yeah.

Anywho, here you go (and yes... I'm aware of the typo at the very beginning... that'll be fixed in the future):

This week's music (I know, it was hardly loud enough to hear) is courtesy of Norwegian Recycling, a Mash-Up Artist. The song is called "Hey Oh Tonight."
