The Demented Podcast #5 - The Demented Encyclopedia.

For an early Christmas present to y'all, here is the next Demented Podcast a wee earlier than usual!

For this episode, I am reunited with Travis McCollum of The Movie Encyclopedia. It's the longest episode so far, but not by much. We take on a short "The Challenge" that is a bit seasonal, I believe... but funny.

Then we get into our main discussion: Hollywood trends. From 3D to comics/graphic novel adaptations to (unnecessary) sequels, we cover it all in a discussion that is actually not a Top 5 list. (Warning: There are some spoilers for Season 1 of The Walking Dead if you haven't seen it yet.)

But then we get into what has to be a Demented Tower for the books. Travis aims to break a new record, but is he gunning for Rachel's Top Score or is he taking Jason's Bottom Score Challenge? As a side note, this particular episode was very intensive to edit. Believe it or not, while recording, the Demented Tower alone went on for AN HOUR AND A HALF. And this was all talking and rambling and thinking out responses, folks. This wasn't just pure silence that I could easily trim down on as per usual. But you know what? I took that 1.5 hour time and somehow brought it down to 30 minutes.

Finally, keep an ear out for a fun little Easter Egg at the end of the closing music! It was too good to pass up.

Current Leaderboard (The Demented Tower):
1) Rachel - 179 Points
2) James - 135 Points
3) Jess - 95 Points
4) Jason - 33 Points

You can listen to this episode on the player below or by subscribing through iTunes.

That being said, enjoy! Thanks goes out to Kevin MacLeod's Incompetech website for great, royalty-free music. And thanks to Google for helping me find a website that will give me free video game audio samples.

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #17 - The One Where Han Solo Is Caramelized.

NOTE: If you have tried downloading previous episode from iTunes, but it says the bandwidth has been exceeded, I apologize. The new format for posting podcasts eats up bandwidth like a mofo. I've just got it reset, so now you may try again. Anyway, I'm posting it up in the older format. I beg you that if you post this up on your own blog or wherever, please use the old setting, as well.

-----------------------------------

Well, it's our final episode. I know it's late, but (as I said) there were some pod-o-matic issues. Anyway, on with the show. Before the main topic, we give some plugs/Recommend A...'s. For our farewell, we give our Top 5 favorite cliffhanger endings. While most are from movies, some are from television shows, as well. Beware, this episode is very spoiler heavy. And we also go into more movies than just our Top 5 lists, so if you're worried about having any particular movies spoiled, take a gander at the list of movies/shows we discuss (this is in alphabetical, not chronological):

28 Weeks Later...
Back to the Future
Back to the Future Part II
Blade Runner
Chronicles of Riddick
CSI: Las Vegas
CSI: Miami
Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2
Final Destination
Final Destination 2
Hills Have Eyes, The (Remake)
Inception
Italian Job, The (Original)
Kill Bill Vol. 1
Mortal Kombat
Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest
Saw

Saw 7 (Leaked Comic-Con info for the beginning of the movie)
Silent Hill

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Street Fighter
Super Mario Bros.
Thelma and Louise
Thing, The
Troll 2
Twin Peaks

After our lengthy discussion on cliffhangers, we mosey on into a Film vs. Film. Travis defends Saw 3 while I defend Saw 6. And once we struggle hating on a series we both enjoy, we end the show with a double dose of the Mono-Dia-logues of the Week. That's right, both of us do 2.

And that'll about do it!

Thanks goes out to Kevin MacLeod's Imcompetech Website for the music. As always, you can use the player above to listen to the podcast, or you can search iTunes, where we are also available for download. The earlier episodes are being removed from the player for space, but you can still always download them on iTunes.

Finally, thanks to everybody who has been a fan and supported the show. It's been a good run!

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #16 - Awesome Equals Christopher Nolan In This One.

I know I've already put one thing up today (check out the season 3 review of Avatar: The Last Airbender, if you would!). But I finally got done editing this awesome edition of The Demented Encyclopedia (took a little longer than usual...). So I figured I should put this up, as well.

---------------------------

For the second week in a row, Travis was unable to join us. Instead, Rachel has returned for another episode in his stead. This week, we discuss the career of one Christopher Nolan due to the recent release of Inception. If you notice something out of place on this episode, it's not your computer... We started the show with a brief plug before moving in to Nolan's body of work in chronological order. After a brief D-Bag, we went into Film vs. Film, or in this case, Scene vs. Scene. And finally, we wrapped it all up with our Mono-Dialogues of the Week. Now, that's how we recorded it... that's not to say that's how it ended up...

But as for now... enjoy!

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #15 - The One Where Travis Has A Sex Change (Or Not).

I know we've said it many times before, but this is actually a very special episode. For the first time, Travis is absent from the podcast; and, for the first time, we have a returning guest--Rachel from Rachel's Reel Reviews.

In this fun little episode, Rachel and I discuss the Twilight "Saga" (books and movies), going character by character. But first, Rachel plugs her own podcast, Reel Insight, which she co-hosts with Jess from Insight into Entertainment (Personal Note: It's a great podcast. Definitely check it out... after this one, of course).

After the main discussion and a bit of D-Bag, Rachel and I lie through our teeth to give you a compelling Film vs. Film where we battle two of the best Harry Potter films (for our actual thoughts, stay tuned after the closing theme).

And then we wrap things up with our Mono-Dialogues of the Week (and in my case, we do mean "mono"(tone)).

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #14 - The One With The Last Airbender.

Another Saturday leaving us... which means it's time for another episode of The Demented Encyclopedia!

This week, Travis and I discuss both the show and the movie versions of Avatar: The Last Airbender. This episode is a little different from usual. Neither of us had a "Recommend A...," and we're gonna have an extra long Film vs. Film next week, so we decided not to do one this week. As such, we decided to do another little segment at the beginning of the show entitled "Controversy Corner," wherein we discuss one of the many controversies surrounding not only this movie, but in Hollywood in general: Whitewashing casts.

From there, we go into what we like and dislike about both the series and the movie (hint: one is mostly "like" talk and one is mostly "dislike" talk. Dare you to guess which is which!). And then we finish up the episode with the only reason anybody listens to the show, The Mono-Dialogue of the Week.

As a bit of insider information, there is actually about 40 minutes of show that's been cut (which is actually a bit ironic considering what we were talking about). We actually decided to do 2 placeholder segments this week, but we decided to not include the second one in the final edit of the show, because the majority of it was a bit repetitious and not all that interesting. For those interested, this is pretty much what it was: We brought back the "If I wrote/directed" segment from our very first episode, focusing on the Last Airbender movie. If you remember the epic post I did a while back reviewing season 1 of the show, I basically went down the list, summarizing the episode, while Travis and I discussed if M. Night made the right choice in cutting or keeping the episode (or part of the episode), if he handled it well if he did keep it, and if we would keep it or cut it if we were in charge of the movie. For the most part, this roughly 40-minute conversation just reiterated what we spent the rest of the episode discussing, with only a few bits of new information here and there.

If you're interested, here are those bits (basically): Travis would have kept the "Imprisoned" segment in his movie but kept it more like the show (unlike M. Night), while I would have cut it completely; Travis and I have differing opinions on the character Jet (he likes him, I don't), but we still wouldn't have included him in our versions, so M. Night made a good choice there; Travis and I both would have included June the Assassin in our versions; and we both would have included both Pakku and his fight with Katara at the Northern Water Tribe in our versions of the movie. Overall, the basic summary of the segment was this: M. Night made decent cuts (and a couple questionable ones that he didn't), but he just handled what he kept too poorly.

And that's about it! I had to do one heck of an editing job to make it seem like that second segment never existed (with I believe only one instance near the beginning that implies otherwise, with one subject/verb agreement problem, as I cut out a couple words and even the 's' at the end of a plural word to make it singular... and then one instance near the end where I couldn't edit as clearly, so there's a very brief garble around the point it makes the jump). So I hope you enjoy the episode. It's one of our shortest now, actually. And make sure to keep an eye out for next week when we have our first returning guest host!

A Week Of Uwe Boll #6: The Demented Encyclopedia #13 - The One About Uwe Boll.

With 1 minute to spare! Uwe Boll week has come to a close as Travis and I record our 13th episode of The Demented Encyclopedia, dedicating it to the man, the mystery, the legend... Uwe Boll.

Basically, after a couple unrelated recommendations, we go through his entire catalog and discuss his movies, give our thoughts, and wrap it up with the D-Bag.

From there, we move on to one of our newer segments, Film vs. Film. I attempt to argue that BloodRayne is a more entertaining film than Far Cry, as Travis tries to argue, well, the opposite.

And, finally, we end with the Mono-Dialogues of the Week. And that's about it!

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #12 - The One With That Guy With The Glasses.

We've got another long one on our hands. But fear not! I've added some time tags to this description to let you know where to find information if you'd like to navigate around the episode instead of listening straight through. The time stamps are approximate, so they're generally around that time, but pretty close).

With this episode, we introduce a new format to the show and a couple new segments (one to stay, one maybe a one-shot depending on its popularity).

Recommend A... (1:30 - 5:52)

Main Topic: ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com

Mainly what we want to do with this episode is give you a crash course in the website to get more people involved with it. As it is a crash course, this gives us a longer episode, as we give a pretty detailed synopsis of the website and those who are involved with it (of course, we don't go into EVERYBODY, but we try to hit the main players). If you're into movies, video games, comics, or music, this website is for you. They cover it all in video-based reviews and commentaries, usually with a comedic twist (sometimes in sketches).

Also, we do this first so that when we get to the second part of the discussion, an original movie called Kickassia, so that you'll understand a bit more of what we're talking about. But first, we cover the people of the site.

PEOPLE (5:53 - 1:20:00)

Here we talk about the main contributors to the website, including who they are, what kind of things they cover, what are their positive and negative aspects, how often we view them, and what we believe are some of their best episodes.

If you're already knowledgeable of the site, this is the order we take its contributors (and how long we talk about each of them, roughly):

Nostalgia Critic (12 minutes)
Bum Reviews (5 minutes)
Spoony (10 minutes)
Cinema Snob (4 minutes)
Ask That Guy (2 minutes)
The Distressed Watcher (2 minutes)
Linkara (6 minutes)
Nostalgia Chick (4 minutes)
Angry Joe (4 minutes)
Lord Kat (4 minutes)
Film Brain (4 minutes)
Todd in the Shadows (4 minutes)
Phelous (2 minutes)

Then there is a brief honorable mention list of MarzGurl, JewWario, Benzaie, Melvin, and (of course) Santa Christ. (6 minutes)

KICKASSIA (1:20:00 - 1:40:00)

Here we discuss the 6 parts of the full-length movie, Kickassia, which was the 2-year anniversary project of That Guy With The Glasses and stars practically everybody we mentioned in the last hour+ (and a few more).

D-BAG (1:40:00 - 1:41:45)

This is a short D-Bag segment, as really only Jason of Invasion of the B-Movies is knowledgeable of the website.

FILM VS. FILM (1:41:46 - 1:56:10)

This is a new segment where Travis and I take opposing views on two films and debate why one movie is better than the other. This week? Equilibrium (me) vs. Wanted (Travis).

GENRE CHANGE GAME (1:56:10 - 2:03:00)

We wanted to attempt a game of some sort, and this is the best we came up with. And yes, we make total fools of ourselves. Out of all the segments, this might be one to drop if the excitement for it isn't too high. Let us know!

MONO-DIA-LOGUES OF THE WEEK (2:03:00 - End)

Of course we have our mainstay. This week, Travis attempts his best Jack Nicholson, while I attempt my best Alan Rickman. Between you and me, I think Travis wins this round.

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #11 - The One That's A Musical.

That's right... there's singing. Lots of it. And we're very, very sorry. Join Travis and I as we each look at 5 of our favorite musicals (in no particular order) via song. And once that's all over and done with, we have a very brief Reality Round-Up, and it's most likely the last one since the shows are over now. Then we have some recommendations and, finally, the only reason you all actually listen to this show--the Mono-Dia-logue of the Week. Travis goes Agent Smith while I, well... digress back into song. Hope you enjoy the episode.

Editing this particular episode was a pain in the ass, as I had to link up lyrics with music... and that usually didn't want to cooperate, so a few things were cut or added here or there (I had to take a bit of creative control over the songs). There was also a lot of unimportant talking in between songs that was removed. In other words, my headache is now yours. Enjoy!

Note: I swear I'm saying "horrors" not "whores." Just thought I'd clarify.

Thanks goes out to Kevin MacLeod's Imcompetech Website for the music. Thanks also goes out to the writers/composers of the following films (in order): Little Shop of Horrors, Sweeney Todd, Aladdin, Mulan, Repo! Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #10 - The One With That Guy.

For our tenth episode, we bring on guest host Dylan Fields of Blog Cabins and The Large Association of Movie Blogs. To compensate for such a long episode last week, we have a bit shorter of an episode this week.

After some quick plugs, in which Dylan plugs the LAMMY Awards, and I plug a scene from my movie-in-progress, we move on to the main topic. The topic this week is "That Guys." These are the actors and actresses who appear in numerous films and television shows, but usually as a secondary character and the common public can't really remember their names (hence "that guy"). We go over some of our favorites (actors and performances).

After that, we move on to Reality Round-Up and start off with our most detailed Survivor discussion yet, mostly because our guest host this week is actually a Survivor fan. From there we move on to a quick American Idol discussion where Travis and I actually have yet another debate and must agree to disagree.

Then, after a quick "Recommend A...", we get into our Mono-Dia-logues of the Week, where none of us are practiced/rehearsed--and you can tell, except for Dylan, who shows us up with a scene from True Romance.

And that's it for this week. Stay tuned after the closing theme for a bit extra!

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #9 - The One With References (Animation: Part 2).

This is our longest episode yet; it's even longer than our first episode. So I hope you have plenty of time, because unlike episode 1, this one isn't long because of Reality Round-Up. Our main topic this time deals with Animated TV shows from our childhoods up through now. We split the main topic into categories: "Childhood," which are the shows we watched primarily from birth through roughly 5th grade; "Jr. High - High School," which are shows we watched around roughly ages 11-18; and "More Current," which is everything we were into after that. Granted, there is a 5-year age difference between Travis and I, so there are a few variations one what shows fit under which sections (and Travis, being only almost 19, doesn't have much of a difference between the latter 2 sections). But it's a lengthy discussion, as well as a very nostalgic discussion.

Not to mention there are quite a few drinking games you could probably pick up while listening.

Then there's a short segment of Reality Round-Up followed by a couple Recommendations. Travis pretty straight-forwardly recommends Iron Man 2, while I recommend TeamFourStar's Dragonball Z Abridged. Finally, we end with our Mono-Dia-logues of the Week. And here's the video of what I actually did for mine:

Anywho, here's the player for the episode:

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #8 - The One About Animation (Part 1).

This episode is the first of our first 2-part podcast. This one centers on animated movies, primarily those of the big 3 (or 4?) companies: Disney/Pixar, Dreamworks, and Studio Ghibli.

First off, Travis plugs a fellow blogger, He Shot Cyrus, and three things currently going on over there.

Then we get into our discussion of the companies, beginning with Disney/Pixar and separating them immediately into two entities. From there we move on to a brief discussion on Dreamworks before effortlessly segueing into Studio Ghibli. Who is the best? Which have the best themes? The best animation? The best entertainment? The best overall movies? And, in what is probably the biggest debate Travis and I have had thus far, which is better: WALL*E or Up?

Our Reality Round-Up isn't all that long, believe it or not. We discuss Survivor briefly and move on to a brief (and not as heated as expected) discussion of American Idol.

Then I don't exactly recommend anything as much as I "suggest" it, while Travis is a little more direct.

And we wrap things up in probably the most embarrassing fashion to date. We both sing our Mono-Dia-logues of the Week. Yeah. And that'll about do it.

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #7 - The One With Yet Another List.

Yeah, we know, another Top List. We swear this one will be the last one for a while. But this time, we're out to give our Top 10 Guilty Pleasure movies.

After a couple brief plugs from Travis, including his upcoming interview with Dr. Uwe Boll, we move right along to the lists, counting down our Top 10 favorite guilty pleasure movies. Some we are in agreement on. Others... not so much. But hey, they wouldn't be guilty pleasures otherwise, right? The D-Bag this week was incredibly generous, as well, giving us plenty to read.

Then we go into Reality Round-Up, where we actually talk about Survivor for more than 10 seconds (shocker). And then, of course, the American Idol talk ending with the power rankings.

For "Recommend A..." I recommend an apocalyptic survival guide that is not written by Max Brooks entitled "Apocalypse How," while Travis recommends both the movie and comic versions of The Losers.

To wrap everything up, Travis gives his Mono-Dia-Logue as Nic Cage from The Wicker Man, while I might actually seem to finally one-up him this week with... yeah, it's a surprise.

And that's it for this week! And stay tuned after the closing music for a bit of extra humor (Note: There was actually more discussion between my initial question and the countdown, but it was removed for boringness sake).

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #6 - The One Where Jason Likes Tits.

Another weekend, another episode of The Demented Encyclopedia. This episode brings us our second guest host, this time in the form of Jason Soto from Invasion of the B-Movies. This week we discuss our top 5 movies that most people love, but we can't stand and/or hate. And yes, we're aware that most people are going to kill us in many creative ways by the end of the podcast.

From the main topic we turn to a relatively quick segment of Reality Round-Up before heading into "Recommend A..." Jason recommends a good book about bad movies, Travis offers up some music and a video game, and I pimp out Gamers: Dorkness Rising.

Finally, we wrap up the show with what is probably the greatest session of the Monologues of the Week this side of Christopher Walken. Travis takes on There Will Be Blood (you know which scene). I go a little crazy myself with American Psycho. Jason finishes it off with a speech from a movie riffed in Mystery Science Theater 3000.

And this is also the most bizarre episode we've had behind the scenes, as well. Never before have we had so many issues. We started off rough with me forgetting to hit the record button. Then I get 2 different and unnecessary phone calls during the podcast that interrupted us. Travis gets a knock at his door... and at the very end, he gets disconnected completely about halfway through Jason's speech. But we made it through, and I was able to edit it together pretty well so you can't really tell (except maybe the audio difference at the very, very end). But the best part? I tagged a little extra bit onto the end of the show, after the closing music, so stay tuned!

Warning: This episode contains quite a bit more explicit language than usual.

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #5 - The One Where Travis Is A D-Bag.

I know I just posted my "Desert Island DVDs" list, but it's podcast time! It's our fifth episode, and we're here to do our Top 5 favorite movies and Top 5 favorite actors/actresses.

We start off with Plugs where I plug this blog's newest event, "My Life in Film." Travis plugs a friend's movie that just came out.

Then we get into our Top 5 lists, and we'll probably get hated on by classic film lovers. We almost miss the D-Bag, but rewind slightly to go into quite an interactive rendition.

Then we head into Reality Round-Up where we briefly discuss Survivor before heading into American Idol.

This week on Recommend A..., Travis recommends the strangest musical entity ever, while I recommend a little known movie that everybody needs to see, one which I reviewed on this blog in its early days.

This leads into the Monologue/Dialogue/Mono-Dialogue of the Week, where I read an overly dramatic scene from the film Bang Bang You're Dead. The scene can actually be seen in its entirety by clicking here (the music has actually been altered in this video, which is kinda annoying, but just disregard it). The mood then shifts by Travis reading a comical scene from Shaun of the Dead.

EDIT: The following player isn't currently updated. I'll remove this notice whenever it decides to show up... I don't know what the deal is, but if it doesn't say "Episode 5," that's not what you're listening to. But you can always find us on iTunes, as well.

And that's it for this week!

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #4 - The One Where Travis Does Christopher Walken.

I'd tell you what this episode is about, but I really don't remember much past the ending. I think we covered the topic of Found Footage films, as well as the usual Reality Round-Up... but really, this episode is truly about Travis' impression of Christopher Walken. I'll just leave it at that.

We start things off with about 4 minutes of plugs. I plug Rachel's Reel Reviews for reaching its 3rd year anniversary, while Travis plus his own blog's Christopher Walken Appreciation Month, as well as the Simon and Jo Film Show podcast (which had, in turn, previously plugged us. It's like "Adaptation." up in here).

Then for the next 27 minutes, we cover our thoughts on Found Footage films, including such titles as Cannibal Holocaust, Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield, REC, and more! And then we're all shown up yet again by Rachel, who isn't even here this time, by her summing up (in the D-Bag) the entire last half hour of the podcast in about 1 paragraph.

We take a little extra time in Reality Round-Up this week to expand on a few thoughts, but it only stands at a total of 19 minutes. We discuss Rob vs. Russell in Survivor, as well as the comeback kid that is Colby. Then we switch to American Idol (where there's also a bit of comeback kid in Andrew).

In this week's "Recommend A..." (3 minutes), Travis recommends a nerd-band called ALL CAPS, while I discuss the YouTube sensation, ImprovEverywhere (*I know I said ImprovAnywhere in the podcast... my bad).

And finally we wrap things up with the Monologues of the Week. Travis shows us his amazing (?) Christopher Walken impression for his reading of "The Watch" scene in Pulp Fiction, while I just cry because I can't legitimately follow that up, but at least it allows me to attempt "The Apology" scene from The Blair Witch Project. And that's it for this week!

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #3 - The One With A Guest Host (Rachel).

For this episode, our shortest yet (they just keep getting shorter and shorter!), we're joined by our very first guest host, Rachel from Rachel's Reel Reviews. After plugging her blog and a monthly event that correlates with the main topic, we get into said topic--a discussion on Mystery Science Theater 3000 and RiffTrax.

Main Topic: MST3K and RiffTrax (33 Minutes)

The topic spans from why it's well liked, how it did so well, favorite episodes, and even a bit of Mike vs. Joel. And then, after a brief D-Bag segment, we move on to the next segment.

Reality Round-Up (15 minutes)

Rachel takes a break as Travis and I begin the reality show discussions. The Survivor talk is brief, as we're both mostly in agreement that Russell is king. And then our Idol talk has turned spit-fire, going from one contestant to the next, giving our thoughts, and wrapping it up with the Power Rankings.

Recommend A... (6 minutes)

Rachel recommends a web comic created by a friend, Bluff in the Pines.

I recommend the rising internet sensation "A Very Potter Musical," the Harry Potter musical. More information can be found at their website: Team Star Kid.

And Travis recommends the new wannabe-superhero film Defendor starring Woody Harrelson.

Monologue of the Week (9 minutes)

We wrap things up with the monologues of the week. And yes, we do force Rachel to do one. I kick things off with a speech from the love-it-or-hate-it Sci-Fi film The Faculty. Travis then moves into more... verbose territory with Pulp Fiction. And then Rachel shows up the both of us with an internal monologue from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

For the music this week, I went back (due to popular demand) to the theme used in the first episode. So thanks goes out to Kevin MacLeod's Imcompetech Website. As always, you can use the player above to listen to the podcast, or you can search iTunes, where we are also available for download. Enjoy!

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #2 - The One With Bad British Accents.

In this second episode of The Demented Encyclopedia, we tackle the topic of movies adapted from other mediums, primarily books (though there is a bit of delving into video games, as well).

Plugs (6 Minutes)

The following websites were discussed during the Plugs portion of the podcast:

-Financial and Sales Advice
-Blog Cabins (for the LOST Reviews/Recaps)
-Cool Awesome Movies
-The Lair of the Unwanted Podcast

Topic: Book (and video game) to film adaptations (45 Minutes)

This week we lose one segment--the "If I had written/directed" bit--and gain another. We call it the "Demented Bag" or "D-Bag." The D-Bag is placed in the tail-end of the main topic (yeah... the pun is intended, people) and allows for listener participation! We take your comments and questions and read them aloud on the podcast, giving you our thoughts in return. If you would like to be a future D-Bag contributor, please join our Facebook Fan Page here.

The Reality Round-Up is shorter this week, clocking in at around 19 Minutes, though with no Survivor this week, it's a purely American Idol discussion (and only promising to get shorter as the weeks go on, with the contestants list shrinking along the way).

We spin into a brief (3 minute) "Recommend A..." where the both of us actually go for music-related recommendations.

And finally we wrap the show with a completely coincidental Princess Bride-centric "Monologue of the Week." Though Travis' is more "Dialogue of the Week," mine could be considered an "Interrupted Monologue," as it would have been a monologue had Westley just not been continually interrupted.

And we apologize immediately for anybody offended by our terrible accents.

Music this week is provided by iTunes and American Idol, giving you a couple brief clips of the lovely Siobhan as she sings her rendition of "Paint it Black" by The Rolling Stones. The song is not given in its entirety and we strongly urge you to go out and buy it yourself if it interests you. Also, you can now subscribe to us via iTunes. We hope you enjoy this week's episode. Join us next week when we should have our very first guest host!

Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #1.

This is the first episode of The Demented Encyclopedia, the podcast that joins bloggers Travis McCollum of The Movie Encyclopedia, and... well... me.

This first episode is a bit of a long one, partly due to the topics at hand, and partly due to it being the first episode and having to get some explanations out of the way. The episode is split up into six segments.

Plugs (3 Minutes)

I plug my Idol Chatter: American Idol Live Blogs.

Travis plus his blog's Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains Castoff Interviews.

Main Topic (25 Minutes)

The main topic of discussion this week is the Oscars, from what we thought of the winners to the controversies therein.

Reality Round-Up (40 Minutes)

A weekly feature, at least until the seasons end, the Reality Round-Up covers the past week in both American Idol and Survivor. The Idol talk goes on a bit too long here (roughly 31 minutes), but mostly because we have some catching up to do. We both doubt future discussions will last even remotely close to that long. Survivor talk, on the other hand, goes by pretty fast (clocking in around 9 minutes), as we talk about a couple things from the past episode and who we think will win it all (a villain, of course).

If I Had Written/Directed ________ (9 Minutes)

Another regular feature, this one goes into what we would do had we been in charge of certain films. In other words, the negatives that we'd clean up. The theme this week? Oscar films, of course. Travis takes on Avatar, while I take a stab at Up in the Air. Oh... and a bit of a spoiler for that last one if you haven't seen it yet.

Recommend a... (12 Minutes)

This feature allows us to briefly recommend something that the mass population might not be to familiar with. I recommend a small Canadian horror film called Pontypool, while Travis discusses the newly released DVD for the best of That Guy With The Glasses.

Monologue of the Week (6 Minutes)

The final segment wraps up the show as we each choose a monologue to dramatically reenact. I choose the opening monologue to Pontypool, while Travis goes the more comedic route with a stand-up routine he's quite fond of.

And that does it for the first episode. Special thanks to Kevin MacLeod's Incompetech website for his royalty-free music. Please, let us know what you think! What do you want to hear more of? What do you want to hear less of (besides American Idol)? What did you think overall?
