Podcast: The Demented Encyclopedia #12 - The One With That Guy With The Glasses.

We've got another long one on our hands. But fear not! I've added some time tags to this description to let you know where to find information if you'd like to navigate around the episode instead of listening straight through. The time stamps are approximate, so they're generally around that time, but pretty close).

With this episode, we introduce a new format to the show and a couple new segments (one to stay, one maybe a one-shot depending on its popularity).

Recommend A... (1:30 - 5:52)

Main Topic: ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com

Mainly what we want to do with this episode is give you a crash course in the website to get more people involved with it. As it is a crash course, this gives us a longer episode, as we give a pretty detailed synopsis of the website and those who are involved with it (of course, we don't go into EVERYBODY, but we try to hit the main players). If you're into movies, video games, comics, or music, this website is for you. They cover it all in video-based reviews and commentaries, usually with a comedic twist (sometimes in sketches).

Also, we do this first so that when we get to the second part of the discussion, an original movie called Kickassia, so that you'll understand a bit more of what we're talking about. But first, we cover the people of the site.

PEOPLE (5:53 - 1:20:00)

Here we talk about the main contributors to the website, including who they are, what kind of things they cover, what are their positive and negative aspects, how often we view them, and what we believe are some of their best episodes.

If you're already knowledgeable of the site, this is the order we take its contributors (and how long we talk about each of them, roughly):

Nostalgia Critic (12 minutes)
Bum Reviews (5 minutes)
Spoony (10 minutes)
Cinema Snob (4 minutes)
Ask That Guy (2 minutes)
The Distressed Watcher (2 minutes)
Linkara (6 minutes)
Nostalgia Chick (4 minutes)
Angry Joe (4 minutes)
Lord Kat (4 minutes)
Film Brain (4 minutes)
Todd in the Shadows (4 minutes)
Phelous (2 minutes)

Then there is a brief honorable mention list of MarzGurl, JewWario, Benzaie, Melvin, and (of course) Santa Christ. (6 minutes)

KICKASSIA (1:20:00 - 1:40:00)

Here we discuss the 6 parts of the full-length movie, Kickassia, which was the 2-year anniversary project of That Guy With The Glasses and stars practically everybody we mentioned in the last hour+ (and a few more).

D-BAG (1:40:00 - 1:41:45)

This is a short D-Bag segment, as really only Jason of Invasion of the B-Movies is knowledgeable of the website.

FILM VS. FILM (1:41:46 - 1:56:10)

This is a new segment where Travis and I take opposing views on two films and debate why one movie is better than the other. This week? Equilibrium (me) vs. Wanted (Travis).

GENRE CHANGE GAME (1:56:10 - 2:03:00)

We wanted to attempt a game of some sort, and this is the best we came up with. And yes, we make total fools of ourselves. Out of all the segments, this might be one to drop if the excitement for it isn't too high. Let us know!

MONO-DIA-LOGUES OF THE WEEK (2:03:00 - End)

Of course we have our mainstay. This week, Travis attempts his best Jack Nicholson, while I attempt my best Alan Rickman. Between you and me, I think Travis wins this round.

Thanks goes out to Kevin MacLeod's Imcompetech Website for the music. As always, you can use the player above to listen to the podcast, or you can search iTunes, where we are also available for download. The earlier episodes are being removed from the player for space, but you can still always download them on iTunes. Also, please become a Fan on Facebook... then you can give us your input for the podcast and will probably end up on the show during the D-Bag segment, as well as vote for which film in Film vs. Film won for the week. But as for now... enjoy!

  1. "Another long one on our hands". That's what she said.

    And I'm just now starting.
    That's what I said.
