Random Ramblings of a Demented DoorVlog #2.

Well, it's here! Episode 2 of the Vlog. As some of you know, I promised this week's episode to focus more on Jason Soto. Explanation is in the video. Anyway, this 5-minute thing can be killer sometimes. I had to cut out quite a bit this week.

There are three segments in this episode. The first is Jason-centric, and I had to cut out maybe 30 seconds of it.

The second segment is a bit of a skit--an idea that I've had for a few weeks now that I thought I'd incorporate. Unfortunately, this got the biggest cut. There's about 3-4 minutes cut out of this segment, and it's probably noticeable. And if you follow my Facebook page for this site, the *expletive deleted* comment last week dealt with this particular segment. It's a lot more difficult than it appears. The one angle alone is a mix of about 3 different shots... though that wasn't really the hard part.

The third segment is Jason-centric again, and it's probably one I'll continue to incorporate into later episodes (I don't know about all of them being Jason-centric, but I mean the idea itself). But I cut about MAYBE 30 seconds from this one. There's a noticeable cut near the end.

Anyway, hope y'all enjoy it. Leave me some comments down below! Here y'all go:

  1. Well at least there's video proof of TWO of us doing that ridiclous dance.

    Bravo, sir. Bravo!

  3. That was tremendous. As if the Jason Tribute Dance weren't enough, that skit was fabulous - made me want to know how the hell you did it.

Enjoyed the Post Reading, too, especially that part about Jacob's girlfriend. I didn't remember that from Jason's post...might have to see it after all.

  4. Thanks, guys!

Dylan: The skit was annoying as hell to pull off. Mostly the guitar bit, though. I practiced the day before for maybe an hour, and then attempted it that next day. I filmed myself for literally 30 minutes, as I kept messing up the cords.

But once I had enough song, I edited it all together, and I ended up with about 4-5 minutes of song. Once I had that, I set up my camera in the bathroom, got the toothbrush and all that, hit play on my laptop, and mimed the toothbrush movements to the cords of the song. That was one shot.

Then I had to record the beginning with me outside the mirror, turning around to grab the guitar, and exiting the bathroom. That was another shot.

Then I had a completely different shot where I just filmed nothing in the bathroom.

Once I had all those shots, I was able to splice them together at the appropriate moments, layering footage on top of each other and cropping it so that part of the video was one thing while the other part of the video was something else. The split line is right at the corner of the wall, so you can't see it. And then, of course, I put the audio from my guitar playing behind it.

All-in-all, the skit alone was (again) about 4-5 minutes long. I cut it down to about 1 and a half. It was really painful to do after spending so much time on it.

  5. I didn't really get the tribute dance, but impressed at the guts it took to pull off. Thanks for the plug last week. Overall, I loved, loved it. The dramatic post reading was my favorite. Keep it up.

  6. Jess: Jason did kind of a mock try-out video for Step Up 2 a long time ago. It's kind of an infamous video among LAMBs, especially. I pretty much mimicked his whole video. I'll link the video next week for you and anybody else that might not have gotten the joke.

  8. Awesome! But I must ask: why do you keep your guitar in your bathroom?
