Idol Chatter: The Live Blog #4.2: Top 12 (Results Show).

[I wanted to do this last season, but I got the idea a few episodes too late. I do admit, I watch American Idol. I really didn't start until a couple years ago, though (my mom was a much bigger fan). Similar in style to the Live Survivor Blog over at Blog Cabins, Idol Chatter (pun and all) will be a play by play of the episodes and what I think of what's happening. For those that don't know, just continually refresh this page to get new updates as the show goes on.]

Alrighty. It's Results Night! The first of the Top 12 is going. For those who read last night, I was a bit off in my memory, forgetting that once it gets to the Top 12, only 1 person goes home at a time (but hey, the show only comes on once a year, and I've only really watched it the last couple years). Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers that Paige is going home. But honestly, who the hell knows anymore?

8:00: Doing this whole stylish recap video of all the Top 12. It almost came off like a horror movie teaser trailer. But let's get on to the show. As Ryan says...

8:02: Wait, what? He didn't say it. He just said "Welcome to American Idol." And he said it all... non-dramatically. Whatever. Then they did some kind of weird green light thing with Irish music for St. Patrick's day.

8:04: Simon and Ryan have an uncomfortable moment where Simon talks down to Ryan about his "uncomfortable" aggressive move last night where he got in Simon's face. But hey, they also just announced that they're bringing back the Judge's Save. For those that didn't watch last year, the Judge's Save is when the judges can save one person from going home one week if they believe America got it wrong (but the next week, 2 people go home). Last year I believe they used it on Matt. He still didn't win. Hopefully they use it wisely this year. Oh, and they only have only before the Top 5 to use it.

8:05: David Cook! Doing a Stones cover of Jumpin' Jack Flash. Doing really good, but David Cook is always awesome.

8:09: Pimping out Idol Gives Back again. Imagine that.

8:13: Again, for those who don't know how this works... now that we're in the Top 12, they don't just go down the line and say "you're going home, sorry." Instead, they go own the line and tell you whether or not you're in the Bottom 3 (the 3 people with the least amount of votes) and then get back to them. They say which one is safe to narrow it down to 2 before telling who is going home. And then the Re-Sing again.

8:14: The first car commercial of the season with the contestants. And then some interesting car designs that they came up with. Huh. Let's just get on with it.

8:16: Paige is up first. Huh. She better be in the bottom. And... she is!

8:17: Lee is up now. He'll be safe. Yup. Now calm those nerves, Lee!

8:18: Siobhan! If she's not safe, America's crazy. And she's... safe.

8:19: Aaron's up. I think this could go either way, but he's got the tween vote, so I think he'll be perfectly fine. And he's... safe.

8:20: Andrew and Tim. Wow... this means one is safe and one's in the Bottom 3. I'm gonna say Tim's in the bottom, because I think Andrew still has a slight bit of popularity left. But who knows? The one in the Bottom 3 is... Tim.

8:22: Right now we have Paige and Tim in the Bottom 3 with one more spot left (duh). I say either Katie or Lacey (probably Katie). We'll see.

8:26: Orianthi's up singing "According to You."

8:34: Back to figuring out the Bottom 3. Since there's only 1 spot left, that means, like before, it's one of the final 2 Ryan gets to.

8:35: Didi's up first, so she's safe. Yup.

8:37: Crystal's up next, and she's totally safe. Yup.

8:38: Katie's up next, so I guess that means she's safe (which means Lacey's in the bottom). God, Ryan, stop talking for 5 minutes every time you get to a new contestant. Just give the bloody news. Anyway... she is...

8:40: Safe. Big Mike's up now, and he'll be safe. Yup.

8:41: It's down to Casey and Lacey. Uh oh. I'd prefer it be Lacey (and I'm sure it will be). And the final person in the Bottom 3 is...

8:42: Lacey. So the Bottom 3 this week is Paige, Tim, and Lacey. I say Paige. But one's now going back safe. And that person is...

8:43: Tim. Huh. And now Kesha is gonna sing? How many performers do they have tonight? Jesus. Talk about procrastination.

8:47: Kesha's now singing "Blah Blah Blah" (feat. 3OH!3). Oh wow, she's totally lip syncing. Like, it's not even a question. Though I'm pretty sure when the 3OH!3 guys came out, they actually did their part instead of lip syncing.

8:54: And we're back. I'm saying Paige is going. Oh, and because of the whole "Save" thing going on, the "Re-Sing" becomes a "Sing For Your Life." In other words, they do their Re-Sing and the judges use that to decide whether or not they want to save them. And the one going is...

8:55: LACEY? Double-You Tee Eff. I hate Paige even more now. Though apparently they don't have to sing the previous night's song in their Re-Sing/Sing For Your Life, and Lacey's choosing not to (which is unfortunate, because I thought last night was one of her best, even though the judges disagree). She's singing "The Story." But I know the judges aren't going to save her. It's too early and there are much more impressive artists still left to use it on. That, and Lacey's doing really terrible right now. So are the judges going to use the save?

8:58: No. And it was unanimous, apparently. I would agree, as well.

8:59: The Goodbye Video, showing a montage of all her previous moments.

Final Thoughts: OK then. Lacey's gone. We're down to a Top 11. I'll see y'all next week.

  1. Part of me wants to say I am surprised but honestly I'm kinda not. I thought Lacey was quite good this week but she was kinda mousey and quiet and introverted and in a season of big personalities and talents that just doesn't fit. On top of that Paige had the whole "I have Laringitis but look I can sing big notes vote for me" thing going on. And Tim won't go home because of the extremely popular site now to make sure that the "worst Idol contestant will stay as long as possible."

As for the results show itself....good performance by Cook otherwise meeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhh geeeettt ooooonnnn wiiiiitttthhhh ittttt!!!!!! God I hate the waiting game.

Oh well it should be a good episode next week and hopefully all goes well and Tim or Paige goes home hopefully
